The tunnel has 4 lanes and only goes one way, into the tunnel. So i go into the tunnel, and seconds later i come out the other end, where the grassy landscape has turned into a sprawling city. The city was very nice and sunny, not what i would call an image of industrialism or destruction.
Pollution, yes.
Rubbish, yes.
Tall buildings, yes.
Poor people, yes.
Filthy rich people, yes.
Extreme contrast between the two, yes.
The city seemed to be a mish-mash of a rural Mauritian or asian village, combined with the extreme architechture of dubai.
The endless beauty of the grassy plain was no where to be seen. It was consumed by our "civilisation". Yes, the city was beautiful, and in my dream, i did seem to enjoy arriving in this city. But i cant help feeling that this is maybe something that my subconscious is trying to tell me.
So, at the risk of being the laughing stock of my school, I have decided that my A2 art title will be Conservation and Destruction (based on a dream). I hope to focus on the place our society takes up in the world.
Now, i wanted to draw or paint this dream, or at least something to represent it. The problem is however, that the landscape in my dream is faaaaaaar to "hilly" to seem realistic, and far to large and panoramic to be drawn on a reasonable canvas or paper.
The unrealism doesnt bother me as much as the scale because, well, its a dream. But the scale, i have to get right because the grandeur of this landscape was really what struck me.
i actually feel relieved, because i actually havent written this down before now, so at least i have a record of the dream (even though this entry is probably enough to get me admitted to a psychiatric institute
